Dr. Paul Christos is Promoted to Associate Professor

Congratulations to Paul J. Christos, DrPH, MS, who has been promoted to Associate Research Professor of Healthcare Policy and Research. Since joining the Weill Cornell Department of Public Health, now the Department of Healthcare Policy and Research, Dr. Christos has held multifaceted roles as a researcher, teacher, mentor, and program director. His methodological skills range from assisting investigators with descriptive analyses to complex clinical trial designs, meta-analytic techniques, and clinical test performance-evaluation methods. He has worked with a wide variety of clinical researchers, including a long history of successful collaboration with established cancer researchers working together through a regional clinical trials consortium. He is an author of more than 200 journal articles.

Dr. Christos dedicates a significant portion of his time to teaching at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York Presbyterian Hospital and a number of our affiliated institutions. His teaching responsibilities include instruction in epidemiological and biostatistical methods to faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students. He is the course director of “Introduction to Biostatistics in Clinical Research,” which is taught as part of the Master’s Degree Program in Clinical & Translational Investigation offered through the NIH-funded Weill Cornell Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC), and he also teaches biostatistics and epidemiology in the CTSC’s Mentored Clinical Research Training Program. He was the recipient of the Award for Teaching Excellence for the Epidemiology and Biostatistics component of the medical college course, Medicine, Patients, and Society I.

In recent years, Dr. Christos has assumed increased administrative responsibilities. Since April 2013, he has been the lead biostatistician on two Clinical Study Evaluation Committees (CSEC) of the Weill Cornell Joint Clinical Trials Office. Since December 2013, he has also been the lead biostatistician on the Adult and Pediatric Translational Research Advisory Committees of the CTSC. Since April 2014, he has been the Director of the Research Design and Biostatistics Core (RDBC) of the CTSC, and he now also serves as the Director of the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Service Core (BESC) in the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Department of Healthcare Policy and Research.
