Position Summary

The Center for Health Economics of Treatment Interventions for Substance Use Disorder, HCV, and HIV (CHERISH), located in the Department of Healthcare Policy & Research at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, invites applications for a faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level from applicants with a record of significant research accomplishments in the health economics and policy of substance use disorders. Our Center focuses on substance use health economics research applied to clinical decision making and policy implementation, and we highly value candidates with relevant experience conducting economic research alongside clinical trials and cohort studies. Additional areas of research interest may include, but are not limited to: economics of behavioral health interventions and chronic disease management; economics of infectious disease prevention and treatment, especially among substance users; evaluating state- and local-level substance use policy interventions (e.g. policies addressing opioid use, alcohol, smoking, marijuana); the relationship between substance use treatment and the criminal justice system; the impact of health insurance on substance abuse treatment delivery; and assessing quality of life of substance users and their caregivers.

The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. or an M.D. plus additional graduate training (Ph.D., M.P.H., M.S., MBA, or fellowship), strong communication skills, an established record of interdisciplinary work, and a demonstrated ability to mentor students, post-doctoral researchers, and junior faculty. The applicant will be expected to show evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding independently and/or as an integral member of a productive research team.

The position responsibilities include fostering collaborative research, training, and dissemination opportunities with our CHERISH Center collaborators at the University of Pennsylvania Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, Boston Medical Center, and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. There will also be potential opportunities for teaching and curriculum development in the M.S. programs offered by the Department of Healthcare Policy & Research.
