Dr. Himel Mallick, assistant professor of population health sciences, has been elected a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).
The ISI was established in 1885 and is one of the oldest scientific associations operating in the modern world. It is home to members from 150 countries. An elected membership to the organization represents recognition of significant contributions to the statistical profession.
“The ISI leads, supports, and promotes the development and good practice of statistics worldwide under the theme: Statistical Science for a Better World,” said Dr. Mallick. “Likewise, it’s such a great honor to be an elected member of this esteemed academic society.”
Dr. Mallick’s research focuses on reverse translational efforts that aim to integrate vastly different kinds of biological data. A recent recipient of the “Stan Altan” Best Nonclinical Biostatistics Paper Award, he leverages machine learning, systems biology, and omics data science techniques to accelerate target identification and biomarker discovery across a range of indications.
